The night here
Downtown Flushing, around Main Street, Roosevelt Avenue and 39th Avenue, is one of the largest Chinese and Korean communities in the city. Its licensed venues are mostly restaurants, many of them large, plus hotels; much of the late-night activity is in food halls and restaurants that don’t serve alcohol and so don’t appear in licence counts.
Flushing–Main St is the end of the 7 line, which runs all night; the LIRR’s Port Washington Branch also stops at Flushing–Main Street.
When it gets loud
457 complaints about loud music or parties at bars, clubs and other businesses were made to 311 from here in the last 12 months (128 per km², #19 of 24). 68% came in between 10 p.m. and 4 a.m., and 24% on Friday and Saturday nights.
Each row is an evening running into the next morning (the Saturday row ends Sunday at noon). Darker = more complaints. Source: NYC 311 service requests, “Noise – Commercial: Loud Music/Party”.
