The night here
Jackson Heights is one of the most diverse neighborhoods in the country, and its night is lit by the restaurants and shops along Roosevelt Avenue under the elevated 7 train and along 37th Avenue, which has the most licences. Around 74th Street the restaurants are South Asian and Himalayan; further east Roosevelt Avenue becomes a Latin American nightlife strip.
The 7 runs all night with stations at 74th, 82nd and 90th Streets. At Jackson Heights–Roosevelt Avenue, next to 74th Street, the E and F run overnight; the M and R stop for the night.
Hedged: The Roosevelt Avenue venues east of Junction Boulevard are in the neighboring Corona and Elmhurst planning areas and are not counted here.
When it gets loud
786 complaints about loud music or parties at bars, clubs and other businesses were made to 311 from here in the last 12 months (216 per km², #12 of 24). 75% came in between 10 p.m. and 4 a.m., and 39% on Friday and Saturday nights.
Each row is an evening running into the next morning (the Saturday row ends Sunday at noon). Darker = more complaints. Source: NYC 311 service requests, “Noise – Commercial: Loud Music/Party”.
